Ryan Reynolds has revealed the first official photo of Josh Brolin in-character as Cable from the upcoming sequel, Deadpool 2. The Cable character was first confirmed as being part of the Deadpool movie sequel in the post-credits scene from The Merc With a Mouth's own live-action solo film debut. Reynolds' Wade Wilson even cracked wise that Cable would be played by someone appropriate for the role, such as Keira Knightley (something that inspired Knightley as Cable fan art to be produced).

Just last week, Reynolds released the first official photo of his Deadpool 2 costar Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) in costume as Domino, another key player in the sequel and new addition to the Deadpool movie franchise. It's only fitting, then, that Reynolds should once again be the one to take to Twitter and reveal Brolin in-costume as Cable, after weeks of Brolin posting photos of himself either from the film's set - getting fitted for his Cable makeup - or working out, in order to get into tip-top shape to portray the musclebound, time-traveling mutant.

At long last, though, we now know what Brolin will look like as Cable in Deadpool 2. Check out the photo in Reynolds' Tweet (along with his own "unique" description of the Cable character), below!

The Cable creator was created for the comic book medium by Chris Claremont in 1986, as the son of X-Men team member Scott Summers aka. Cyclops and Jean Grey's clone. The origins of Brolin's Cable are expected to be different from the backstory for his comic book iteration, based on how the first Deadpool movie played relatively fast and loose with its connections to the larger X-Men property. Domino is likewise posed to undergo some changes from the page to the screen, with respect to how her unusual luck-based superpowers are handled. Beetz as Domino and Brolin's Cable are quite faithful to their comic book predecessors in terms of appearance, by comparison.

Director David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) began filming Deadpool 2 mid-June, but he and 20th Century Fox were successfully able to prevent any photos of Brolin in his Cable costume from leaking ahead of the official reveal (as they were for Beetz as Domino). There does appear to be a CGI element to Brolin's costume - namely, his left eye - so it will be interesting to see how he looks on the movie's set by comparison, without the extra polish. Such photos of Brolin from the Deadpool 2 set may well make their way online soon, now that his Cable has been formally unveiled.
