The Geeky Chef Strikes Back
Even More Unofficial Recipes from Minecraft, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Twin Peaks, and More!
Those of you who are familiar with my previous cookbook, or my blog, will probably already know that things get a little weird. Weird is just what happens when you’re trying to create sometimes reality-defying fictional food. We’re boldly going where no cook has gone before, and I have my own Prime Directive, and General Orders 2 and 3, to help me navigate that.
Here they are:
- I must try to do the fans and the media creators justice by making the recipes as accurate as possible.
- I must try my best to keep things simple and avoid overly complicated methods and overly rare and/or expensive ingredients.
- I must try to make the end product taste good. Or, if it’s not necessarily supposed to taste good, I must try to at least make it edible.
Thankfully, I’m more Starfleet than Jedi, so “try” is acceptable. It’s not always easy or even possible to balance these goals, and attempting to balance them equally can make the recipe suffer, but I do my best. I try.
So, thank you to the readers for being supportive of this endeavor. That’s everyone who has followed the blog and everyone who bought, read, borrowed, or shared the first cookbook, too.

CHIMICHERRYCHANGA INSPIRED BY MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC
How did a show for little girls become a valid geeky interest for adults? I honestly don’t know. Bronies are a strange and fascinating phenomenon. Far and away, I get more requests for My Little Pony recipes than from any other fandom. But I’m no neighsayer or parasprite, the love that these geeks have for this show is pure and unquestionable and I respect it immensely. You keep on doing you, bronies! Brohoof!
WHITE DRAGON NOODLES INSPIRED BY BLADE RUNNER
Blade Runner is a 1982 science-fiction film starring Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, a man whose job as blade runner is to seek out rogue replicants (androids) and eliminate them. The film was based on a novel with my favorite title of all time: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? It’s nice (for me, anyway) when food is central to introducing the protagonist of a story, especially when the scene is so memorable.
ESTUS INSPIRED BY DARK SOULS
While modern game makers focus on creating games that are intuitive and painless, Dark Souls, well . . . it takes a different approach. This game is notorious for its punishing difficulty. The challenges and battles are brutal, and only the most tenacious of gamers can stomach them. But even if you can’t stomach Dark Souls, you can definitely stomach this tasty beverage based on the game’s primary consumable, the Estus Flask.

About the authors
Cassandra Reeder is an author, recipe developer, and enthusiastic napper. She launched her blog The Geeky Chef in 2008, bringing fictional food and drinks from a vast array of fandoms into reality with simple and fun recipes. Since then, a series of cookbooks based on the trailblazing blog have been published, including The Geeky Chef Cookbook and The Geeky Bartender Drinks. In 2023, she released The Unofficial Princess Bride Cookbook, a culinary love letter to a cult classic. Later that same year, she released The Video Game Chef, a gastronomic guidebook featuring recipes for iconic video game foods. When not conjuring up recipes for fiction-inspired feasts and refreshments, Cassandra can be found embarking on adventures in Portland, OR with her husband and two tiny agents of chaos, and occasionally sneaking bites of homemade Klingon Gagh straight from the fridge at 2am.
Denis Caron, was born April 10, 1985 within the borders of the sunny hell known as the State of California. From the ages of 5-10, he began drawing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man, Earthworm Jim and short stories about his pet box tortoise, Boxer. They were critically acclaimed (not really).
In 2006, after a few year break from drawing, he returned to his primitive tools of the trade (pencil and paper) to begin to draw comics. While in college, with many more years behind him and his life skill now leveled up, he was ready to show the world what he was made of! He created a comic about a rabbit named Reeder and posted it online. It was atrocious.
Finally in 2009, giving up on life itself, Denis created a comic named Large Air Whales Like Silence (aka L.A.W.L.S.). After two years of slaving over the art, story, and humor, he put together L.A.W.L.S. Volume 1 just for you!
Denis currently resides somewhere, somehow, without a wife or children, trying to make this comic his full time job.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2017I was so excited to get this book - the first one was so good and this one has been even better! I love that most of the recipes have a picture and an entertaining description to read along with it. There aren't many cookbooks that are also fun to read! The recipes are so unique and tasty - I love that there are so many options from so many fandoms. The recipes are easy to follow for a beginner cook like me. I hope to see many more releases from this author!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2020The book itself is pretty cool But upon opening a partially caved in box I received a book that looks like it was run over by a car.
When I purchased the book it Was used.
However, it stated it was "Like New" and had a "Minor scratch on the cover"
The inspected sticker was put over the dirt and skid marks on the cover so I suppose my idea of a Minor scratch is a bit different than whomever inspected the book.
A smidge disappointed with that but the recipes themselves are intact and look like a lot of fun.
Nice, fun recipes but a book more damaged than anticipated based on the description.
