Jamaican Olympic team fan account slams Trump for dragging Usain Bolt into national anthem debate
A Jamaican Olympic team fan account clapped back at President Donald Trump on Wednesday after he dragged their star runner into America's nationwide anthem debate on Twitter.
On Tuesday night, Trump took to the social media platform to support his national anthem crusade with a video of eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt from the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The short clip shows the Jamaican athlete abruptly cut off an interview with a reporter in order to observe the United States' national anthem.
"Even Usain Bolt from Jamaica, one of the greatest runners and athletes of all time, showed RESPECT for our National Anthem," Trump wrote.

Shortly thereafter, the Twitter account Team Jamaica, a page dedicated to the island's Olympic athletes and their fans, came to Bolt's defense, slamming Trump for using the runner's image to further his own cause.

Although Trump has spent over a week crusading against NFL players who choose to take a knee on the field, a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that a majority of Americans disagree with his assertion that football players should be fired for refusing to stand for the national anthem.
