· The consultant will fully design the Barrier Analysis Methodology as specified in practical guide to conduct Barrier analysis. Including sampling design, data collection tools, interview guide, tabulation and coding, report write up, and present the preliminary report to International Medical Corps for comments and approval.
· The consultant will review secondary documents and other relevant available data on the current situation of complementary feeding practice among the targeted communities.
· The consultant will develop data collection tool and data collectors training material.
· The consultant will organize a short launching meeting at the beginning of the field work with respective IMCs country team, field staffs and government representatives.
· The consultant will travel to selected woreda (Tembaro) and recruit experienced data collectors and train enumerators on data collection methods.
· The consultant will actively involve IMCs staffs in BA study methodology and procedures involved.
· The consultant will conduct data collection at field level.
· The consultant will write and submit a comprehensive draft report in a maximum of seven (7) days after finishing the field data collection and a final report within three (3) days after receiving feedback on the draft report.
· The consultant will present a summary of the findings for International Medical Corps Addis office staffs using a power point as soon as the draft report is completed.
· The consultants will make sure the Regional, Zonal and Woreda level Health Offices and Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Commission (DPPC) will be engaged in the process whenever necessary.
2. Methodology:
The approach involves a formative behavioral study, carried out among a sample of 45 “Doers” (those who practice the behavior) and 45 “Non-Doers” (those who do not), for a total of 90 participants per BA. The consultant will fully employ the BA methodoly.
3. Deliverables
All the consultants’ payment will be effective up on the delivery of the final report and approval of the report by our HQ technical team. The specific deliverable are the following.
I. One comprehensive draft report based on the agreed up on timeline in the work plan.
II. Final survey report after addressing all the comments given by the technical team as per the agreed up on timeline in the work plan.
III. Row survey data (excel data set).
4. Communications:
The consultant will closely communicate and allow active engagement of International Medical Corps staffs through all BA study stages, study progress, constraints as well as safety and security of team members as these relate to the assignment.
Job Requirement
Bsc or BA degree and five years of experience in health and nutrition interventions.
The consultant should have training in BA study, experience and knowledge in conducting Barrier analysis study on IYCF indicators, and conduct at least two BA studies.
The consultant should have knowledge on ethical considerations and rules and regulations of the local government.
The consultant should able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with colleagues in course of work.
The consultant should be willing to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines
