Lucy Blake Batterman and Yasachar Eli Fishbein are to be married Aug. 13 at Nauticus Marina, an event space in Osterville, Mass. Rabbi Matthew D. Gewirtz is to lead the ceremony.

The bride, 30, who will be taking her husband’s name, is the assistant cantor at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, N.J., where Mr. Gewirtz is the senior rabbi. She graduated from Trinity College in Hartford and received two master’s degrees, one in religious education and the other in sacred music from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, where she was also ordained.

She is a daughter of Lorna Knowles Blake and L. Robert Batterman of New Orleans. The bride’s father works there and in New York as a senior partner in the New York law firm Proskauer Rose. Her mother retired as the founding director of the Iola Fund of the State of New York, which helps low income people in the state obtain help with civil legal problems. She is the author of “Permanent Address,” a 2008 poetry collection, and her work has been published in literary magazines.

The groom, 29, who is known as Eli, is an associate director of analytics and insight at MEC, a global advertising firm based in New York. He graduated from Yeshiva University.

He is the son of Arlene Greenberg Fishbein and Larry V. Fishbein of Boynton Beach, Fla. His mother retired as an English teacher from the Scheck Hillel Community Day School in North Miami Beach, Fla. His father, who is also retired, was the owner of Southern Specialty Manufacturing, a plumbing company in Miami.

The couple met in August 2015 through JSwipe, a dating app.
