Upgrade Your Honeymoon In-Flight Essentials

Written by Emma Hla
I get a little bit excited when September comes for a few reasons; firstly it’s my birthday month, secondly it’s the beginning of autumn (one of my fave seasons!) and lastly it’s also the time of year we choose to take a little holiday.

We do love a long-haul adventure but in order to get to some exotic far-away land I inevitably need to endure a long-haul flight. I say endure because I travel like delicate fruit. Wherever I land I end up resembling a dried prune. It’s really not pretty and I envy anyone who can skip off a plane looking fresh.

We did treat ourselves to a little flight-upgrade for our honeymoon and this was a rather wonderful experience. Champagne, a comfort bag with various goodies and a good ol’ sleep in a horizontal bed did make a 12+ hour flight that little bit more enjoyable and me less prune-like. But once we realised upgrading was in fact another bloody holiday then I looked at how I could make economy long-haul flights just that little bit more luxe.

So let me share with you my own purchases as well as a few picks on the current wish-list!

Leather Headphones

Kicking off with something a little spendy and definitely on my own wish list! I swear it’s not just the buttery nude leather I’ve fallen in love with here. There’s nothing better than a good pair of headphones on a long haul flight, whether it’s for a film marathon, listening to music or just cancelling out your neighbours whilst you catch up on some Zzzz.

Beauty Elixir

Caudalie is my God. Their skin care is so, so beautiful and this little gem comes with me everywhere! It’s a fragrant plant-based concoction of essential oils and I spritz this across my face throughout the flight to keep me fresh. The larger size at £32.00 is 100ml so can be taken on-board but they also do a travel sized version for £12.00.

Cashmere Scarf

So useful to use as a blanket whilst sleeping and for the cool conditions of airport lounges. Absolutely adore this one from Toast. Plus it will see you through Autumn & Winter nicely as an accessory and grey goes with everything. An investment piece I say!

Casual Jogger

You want to be comfortable but smart when travelling and a pair of Joggers from Whistles will tick both boxes. Currently coveting all of their new season trews but particularly this pair. Tapered, with slant pockets and a side-stripe detail, the best bit is they’re lightweight so perfect for flying.

Cashmere Bedsocks

Not just for Christmas, these bedsocks are perfection for a long-haul flight. Keep your toes warm and cosy and feel right at home by kicking off the shoes.

Travel Wallet

Another one on my wish list! Crushing hard on this storm grey colour aren’t you…? Keep all your travel documents and details organised in this stylish wallet by British brand Smythson. If this is a little extravagant then check out their range of lovely mini-note books and keep a diary of your travels.

Silk Eye Mask

Crafted from the highest grade mulberry silk, this stunning silk eye mask will add a bit of luxury to your bedtime. Perfectly blocking out light, you will have the ultimate beauty sleep on your flight! It also comes in an array of gorgeous colours.

Small Holdall

As you’ll see from the header image I do in fact own this very bag. It’s brilliant and we love it. Pair it with the matching cabin suitcase and your hand luggage will be the stuff of dreams.
