Last year, Nintendo surprised the world with Super Mario Run, the famous mascot's world debut on the App Store. Soon, the colorful platformer will see its biggest update ever, with a fresh gameplay mode, a coveted new character, and all-new stages.

The Mushroom Kingdom, remixed

Remix 10 is a frenetic new mode in which you play a set of 10 bite-sized sections from Super Mario Run’s existing levels in quick succession. You also collect rainbow-colored bonus medals strewn across the stages, so the challenge feels fresh every time.

Super Mario Run features recognizable locales from the Mushroom Kingdom.

Remix 10 has no Game Over screen, and if you fail to complete a level, you’ll still proceed to the next one without any penalty. This means new players can easily familiarize themselves with a variety of different levels and experts can collect every bonus medal for a perfect rating.

Finishing stages and grabbing medals in Remix 10 mode also gives you the chance to collect new items to decorate your Mushroom Kingdom and eventually rescue Princess Daisy.

Daisy joins the adventure

That's right. Rescuing Daisy in the Remix 10 mode unlocks her as a playable character in the rest of the game.

Daisy’s special ability is a double jump, opening up a new way to beat the stages you find trickiest, collect coveted black coins, or race against other players in Toad Rally.

Explore World Star

There's a new world to discover, with nine new levels that are unlocked once you finish Worlds 1-6.

The levels are filled with new enemies, cool gameplay mechanics, and of course include pink, purple, and black coin-collecting challenges. Nintendo is promising surprises for even the most seasoned Super Mario Run players in this one.

Choose your own soundtrack

A cute final flourish—when you play the game with your favorite music in the background, Mario and his friends will wear headphones.

The Super Mario Run update drops September 29. For the first two weeks, the in-app purchase will be offered at a 50% discount.
