We're barely over a week into Taylor Swift's promotional cycle for her new album Reputation (due November 10) and already her first single, "Look What You Made Me Do," is engulfing the internet with hot takes and breaking streaming records.

And now we can add another record to Swift's trophy case: the (bonkers) official video for "Look What You Made Me Do," which debuted during Sunday night's MTV VMAs, broke the record for the biggest debut, netting over 43 million streams in the video's first 24 hours on YouTube.

According to a statement from YouTube, Swift's new song registered 43.2 million views during that opening day of viewing, easily beating out viral sensation Psy who's 2013 video for "Gentleman" had 36 million views during its first 24 hours.

The video averaged around 30,000 views per minute for the day and, according to YouTube, exceeded 3 million views per hour at some point following its debut, a ridonkulous number for a bananas video.

This, of course, is in addition to the lyric video, which was streamed a record 19 million times in its first 24 hours after hitting the web on Friday. And, a day later, the song broke Spotify's same-day streams record with 8 million plays.

As of the writing of this story, the lyric video is around 47 million views while the official video has neared 55 million videos for a total of around 112 million views.

For reference, Katy Perry's latest video, "Swish Swish," released on Thursday, just crossed 50 million views on Tuesday morning.
