Abstract: Objective The diagnosis and treatment of congenital meningocele in children were summarized.Methods Nineteen children diagnosed as meningomyelocele in Department of Pediatric Surgery from May 2010 to Aug 2014 were analyzed retrospectively.A total of 14 cases were encephalocele and the other 5 cases were meningocele.All these 19 patients were performed the meningocele repairs.Results No surgical mortality occurred.All the patients were followed up and re-checked at 2 w,1 month,3 months,6 months,and 1 year after surgery.The effect was satisfactory and no recurrence occurred.Conclusion Congenital meningocele in children can be diagnosed according to location of clinical masses and features in combination with CT or MRI.Meningocele repair is a preferred treatment for congenital meningocele in children when no contraindication in surgery and anesthesia occurs.
