Abstract: Objective To evaluate the clinical application of laparoscopy and laparotomy in the surgery for common gynecologic malignancies at early stage, and compare their health-economic benefits. Method Medical records of 397 patients with gynecologic cancer at early stage were retrospectively analyzed, and the patients were divided into laparos-copy group and laparotomy group according to their surgical procedures. The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative exhaust time, length of hospital stay and medical expenses were compared between two groups. Result In comparison with laparotomy group, laparoscopy group had short operative time, less intraoperative blood loss, quick post-operative recovery, shortened length of hospital stay and lowered medical expenses. Conclusion Laparoscopical surgery is a kind of minimally invasive surgery and has better health-economic benefits than laparotomy for early-stage gyneco-logical cancer.
