In an Instagram post that took oh, EVERYBODY surprise, body-positive fitluencer and Pop Pilates founder Cassey Ho (@blogilates) announced her engagement to Sam Livits.
Sam, it seems, is Cassey's former finance tutor and the current head of business development at Blogilates and Popflexactive.com, Cassey's activewear line. But that's about all even Cassey's most loyal fans could tell you about him, since the social media star has long kept her personal life remarkably quite on her social feeds. (Sam's Instagram feed, FWIW, is covered in Cassey — #aww!)
Cassey's engagement post, which features the couple in Kauai, with Sam on one knee, received more than 86,000 likes and 4,000 comments in just two hours. In her caption, Cassey reveals that she got engaged two weeks ago but dragged her feet in making the announcement, since she was unsure how to break the news after keeping Sam a secret for so long.
"He knew me and loved me before Blogilates ever existed," she wrote of Sam, dating their relationship back to at least 2009, when she launched the Blogilates YouTube channel that now has 3.8 million subscribers. "I want you to meet my biggest supporter, my best friend, the man of my dreams, the man of my reality, the only one who can make me laugh within 5 minutes of a heated argument by putting on my favorite Disney songs and forcing me to dance with him...the amazing Sam."
Sam proposed by luring Cassey with — what else?! — a photo opp, telling her he'd found a cool cliff she could Instagram. When they arrived, he revealed the ring box, got down on one knee, and asked "Will you marry me?"
Although Cassey initially thought he was kidding, she ultimately came around. Her sister and sister's boyfriend popped out from behind a bush, where they'd been snapping photos and shooting a video. "It feels like a dream, but Sam reminds me that it's definitely real," Cassey wrote in her Instagram. "There's so much more I want to tell you but Instagram won't let me write more."
