Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson claimed that his side were "back where they belong" after they clinched a place in the Champions League group stages, and one look at this makes it hard to argue.

The Reds saw off Hoffenheim 4-2 on Wednesday night to advance to the top table of European football for just the second time in eight years, winning 6-3 on aggregate.

And ahead of Thursday's group stage draw, fans are looking forward to rubbing shoulders with European football's elite clubs again.

And anyone who doubts that the five time European champions deserve to be there need only look at this stat.

Because Wednesday's win was Liverpool's 200th in European competitions, a tally that only four clubs on the continent can better.

Most wins in European competitions

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus - all of whom are also in Thursday's Champions League draw - are the only other teams with over 200 wins, signifying the company that Liverpool are keeping.

In terms of other English clubs, Manchester United sit on 190 European wins, and so will hope to reach that magical 200 figure if they have a good run in the Champions League this season.

Arsenal are on 140, Chelsea are on 121 and Tottenham 114.
