Wikimedia Chile es una corporación de derecho privado, sin fines de lucro, capítulo local de Wikimedia en Chile. Fue reconocido por el directorio de la Fundación Wikimedia el 13 de junio de 2011 y su asamblea constitutiva se efectuó el 16 de julio de 2011. Su personalidad jurídica fue concedida por el orden del presidente de la República a través del Decreto Exento 4426 de 12 de septiembre de 2012, del Ministerio de Justicia de Chile. El decreto fue publicado en el Diario Oficial el 28 de septiembre de 2012, fecha en que comienza legalmente su actividad.

El capítulo chileno tiene como objetivo difundir y promover en su jurisdicción todos los proyectos de la Fundación Wikimedia y brindar apoyo a las comunidades de esos proyectos, organizando actividades e impulsando proyectos locales para la difusión del contenido libre y la cultura wiki.

El actual directorio de Wikimedia Chile fue elegido en la 13.ª Asamblea General Ordinaria de Socios el 15 de abril de 2023 y ejercerá sus funciones hasta abril de 2024.[1] El directorio está compuesto de la siguiente manera:

Wikimedia Chile is a non-profit organization under the Chilean law (es: Corporación de Derecho Privado, sin fines de lucro), local chapter of Wikimedia in Chile. It was recognized by the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation on June 13, 2011 and its Constituent Assembly was held on July 16, 2011. Wikimedia Chile was recognized by local authorities, granting legal personality, by means of the Exempt Decree 4426, conceded by an order of the President of the Republic, on September 12, 2012, and promulgated by the Justice Ministry of Chile. It was published in the Official Gazzette on September 28, 2012, date when the chapter started its activity for legal purposes.

Wikimedia Chile has as its mission to spread and promote all the Wikimedia Foundation projects on the Chilean jurisdiction, and give support to the communities participating in those projects, organizing activities and encouraging the dissemination of free contents and wikiculture through projects and activities.
