Blade Runner 2049‘s newest trailer came out today along with an announcement on their off-site Blade Runner 2049 Experience coming to San Diego Comic-Con this week.
Alcon Entertainment and Johnnie Walker have teamed up to create an experience for fans and visitors to pass through a gallery, where Oculus VR will be handed to you and transport you to Los Angeles 2049.
After the VR experience, during your time there, there will also be a test to determine if you’re human or replicant. There will be actors set in the Blade Runner 2049 period who will interact with you and hand out giveaways and other surprises.
Fans will then be transported into the world of Blade Runner 2049 via D-BOx chairs in an immersive 24-seat theater to provide you the best Replicant Pursuit VR experience by Oculus. You will feel like you’re in the film.
According to Alcon Entertainment, “the D-Box chairs are specially programmed to sync with the action on the screen, fully immersing the viewer into the Blade Runner 2049 world. This groundbreaking technology gives fans the opportunity to feel the sensation of pitching and rolling through the alleys of dystopian Los Angeles.”
The Blade Runner 2049 Experience will take place across the street from the San Diego convention center in the MLK Promenade. You can make an appointment at the event or wait in the standby line.
Also, appearing in the gallery will be the actual Spinner from the original 1982 film, along with the other vehicles used in the upcoming film.
The experience will be free to the public (no Comic-Con badges required) and is open from 10 AM – 7 PM on Thursday (July 20th) and Friday (July 21st), from 9 AM – 7 PM on Saturday (July 22nd) and from 10 AM – 6 PM on Sunday (July 23rd).
