PBA: NLEX deals Meralco its first defeat at 2017 Governors’ Cup


The NLEX Road Warriors poured in 37 points in the final period to deal the Meralco Bolts its first defeat of the conference, 100-94, on Sunday at the MOA Arena in the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup.

Down one, 64-63 entering the final 12 minutes, the Road Warriors outscored the Botls 14-8 in the final 4:07 of the game to claim the victory.

Import Aaron Fuller had 25 points and 18 rebounds for NLEX, while Kevin Alas came off the bench for 21 points. Larry Fonacier and JR Quinahan, meanwhile, added 16 and 10 points, respectively, while combining for 13 rebounds.

NLEX's bench almost doubled Meralco's output, 60-34.

Allen Durham led Meralco with 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Baser Amer added 14. Reynel Hugnatan was a bench as a reserve with 25 points and nine boards in 32 minutes of play. Only he and Joseph Sedurifa scored for the bench, with the latter accounting for nine points and four boards.

NLEX now improves to 5-1 while Meralco sits at 4-1. The Star Hotshots remain as the only undefeated team at 3-0. — BM, GMA News
