Abstract: Objective To summarize the experience of treatment of pulmonary embolism in patients with lung can-cer. Method The clinical data of 20 patients with lung cancer complicated with pulmonary embolism were collected and analyzed, including patients'gender, age, lesion side, pathological properties of lung cancer, prognosis, etc. Result The 20 patients aged (64.3±7.8) years old, with 12 males and 8 females. Pathological biopsy results showed that there were 11 cases of adenocarcinoma, 5 cases of squamous cell carcinoma and 4 cases of small cell lung cancer;with regard to clini-cal stages, there were 2 cases of stage Ⅰ, 3 cases of stage Ⅱ, 7 cases of stage Ⅲ and 8 cases of stageⅣ. Three patients died in less than 24 hours from onset of pulmonary embolism, 8 patients died within four weeks, and the longest survival time was 11.5 months. Conclusion Lung cancer patients with pulmonary embolism have a relatively high mortality rate, so clinical attention should be paid to the risk assessment of venous thromboembolism, preventive measures should be taken, and timely treatment (such as anticoagulation, thrombolysis, symptomatic, etc.) should to be given upon the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism.
