The New Orleans Pelicans, who re-signed Jrue Holiday to a five-year, $126 million contract and inked a one-year deal with Rajon Rondo, plan to have both point guards in the starting lineup this upcoming season, according to head coach Alvin Gentry.

"I like Jrue off the ball to start the game as a scorer. I like Rondo being on the floor as a leader," Gentry said on the Dunc and Holder podcast. "Obviously, Jrue's going to play some where he's the primary ball handler. I spoke to Jrue at length about this and I think it's something that can really help our team."

Holiday, 27, has spent most of his career as a point guard, but has shown the ability to play off the ball as well, while Rondo, 31, excels with the ball in his hand.

"Not only is Jrue a ball handler, but we like his scoring, and we like him playing off the ball sometimes," Gentry said. "We wanted to try to find a guy that could complement that and there's no better guy out there than Rondo. Obviously he's got championship pedigree, but he's such a leader. He has the ability to find guys and make easy baskets for certain players, and we thought pairing him with Jrue would be the perfect combination."
