Sprint rolls out CallingPLUS, new messaging features to Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are definitely great smartphones if you measure them against any other Android handset launched this year. But they're even better since many retailers and carriers are already discounting them like crazy a few weeks ahead of the Galaxy Note 8's big reveal.

All carriers in the United States offer Samsung's flagship smartphones, but if you've bought the Sprint version, then you're eligible for a new update that brings a handful of new features and improvements.

For starters, the update brings a new security patch, although Sprint doesn't say whether it's the July or August security update. According to the US carrier, the update also adds some Enhanced Messaging new features, but Sprint fails to mention any other details on the matter.

But the most important improvement included in the update is the addition of CallingPLUS, a new feature that enables simultaneous voice and data use on the carrier's network. Basically, this is Sprint's version of VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling combination.

Furthermore, the changelog mentions new and/or enhanced features, as well as more improvements to performance and device stability enhancements along with bug fixes.

Those who own Sprint's Galaxy S8 or S8+ should now be looking for a new software update with number G950USQU1AQGL. The update is pushed OTA (over the air), so it should be arriving on your phone in the next few days.
