Well, the bad news is {obvious} that there’s only one month left of summer. But even though we’re about to head into the Sunday of the calendar year, it’s not all bad news. There are a lot of great live music events happening in Hoboken and Jersey City this August, so we can all finish out summer dancing outside or in our favorite bars. From Kendrick Lamar’s tour stop at the Prudential Center to the final Midnight Market in Jersey City, there are plenty of events to check out this month. Here is your guide to live music in Hoboken + Jersey City this August.

Thursday, August 3rd at Maxwell’s Tavern {Hoboken}

Stop by Maxwell’s Tavern for an evening of acoustic music from the Brett Altman Duo. Their set starts at 8pm, but half-priced drinks start at 10pm. What a way to kick off the weekend.

Friday, August 11th at Midnight Market {JC}

Live music, DJ dance parties, and 20+ food vendors all for $5? That sounds like a pretty good deal to us! This all-in-one stop is saying adios for the summer on the 11th. Stop by for one last hoorah.

Tuesday, August 15th at Palisade Lumber Supply {JC}

Live at the Lumberyard is part of JC Fridays with live bands, a DJ, food truck, and other street vendors. August’s concert date is the 15th from 7-10PM, featuring performances from The Sensational Country Blues Wonders, Karyn Kuhl Band, and Sea of Otters.

Friday, August 25th at Prudential Center {Newark}

Kendrick Lamar will be rolling through Newark towards the end of the month. The young rapper’s highly anticipated The Damn Tour with YG and D.R.A.M. is sure to be an exciting night for fans. The venue is easily accessible via the Path, making it super convenient to catch this show. Tickets minimum $75 here.

Saturday, August 26th at Monty Hall {JC}

Austin based singer-songwriter Bob Schneider will bring his expansive musical catalogue from Texas to New Jersey at Monty Hall at the end of the month. Tickets $22 here.

Every Wednesday at the Grove Path Plaza {JC}

Groove on Grove is a free concert series happening from May – September featuring all kinds of live musicians, performances, and street vendors. Don’t miss it — September will creep up.

Midnight Market { 147 Harborside Financial Center Platform} Every second Friday from July 14th – August 11th, Midnight Marker brings you over 20 food vendors with everything costing less than $5, as well as live music and DJ dance parties. This event is 21+ and runs from 6:30 – midnight. Tickets are $5.
The Archer {176 Newark St.} Wednesday nights are bluegrass night with the Go Bailors at 7:30pm.
Brightside Tavern {141 Bright St.} Live jazz on Monday night and an open mic on Thursday – Sunday.
Fox + Crow {594 Palisade Ave.} Live music on Thursday, Friday + Saturday.
Madam Claude {390 Fourth St.} Live Gypsy Jazz every Tuesday + Thursday, featuring Manouche Bag.
