Abstract: Objective To design a more safe and comfortable space station crew quarters with fresher air by analyzing the internal flow field. Methods A 3 D model of the crew quarters was established and the computational fluid dynamics software Fluent was used to obtain the distributions of the air velocity, the air temperature and the CO2 concentration. The facial area speed ratio, the draft risk (DR) and the air age were chosen to evaluate the air distribution effectiveness under various inlet angles. Results The results showed that the facial area speed ratio reached 70% in inlet angle-10° and it was safe and comfortable for the crews. Conclusion The model is an excellent tool for evaluating the air distribution in the sleeping space; The inlet angle has a great influence on the flow field in the crew quarters,and-10° is the best.
