Barcelona offered £82m 'up front' — but spread over four years — with £36m more dependent on add-ons, such as the Catalans winning the Champions League with him and Coutinho receiving the Ballon d’Or.
The 25-year-old formally handed in a transfer request in a bid to push through a move to the Nou Camp, claiming he did not wish to play again for the Reds.
He has not featured for Liverpool since hurting his back at the Audi Cup in Germany in pre-season.
Coutinho is unlikely to return before the international break and Liverpool must use the time before their Premier League clash with Manchester City on September 9 to bring him back into the fold.
