Some players blame repetitive stress and high expectations for poor performance. One League of Legends player has a different reason: A little too much lovin’.

Newbee’s Li “Vasilii” Wei Jun posted to Chinese social media site Weibo about him being moved to the bench in week six of the LPL season. The pro says he was preoccupied indulging “sensual pleasures,” but he is working on recovery and “adjusting” to abstinence. (h/t Slingshot Esports)

He wrote:

“Because I caught a cold before, I asked to be subbed out for the sake of the Club’s results. The Club maintained its winning streak, so it wasn’t necessary for me to play and I let myself indulge in sensual pleasures for a while, which led to me playing poorly in solo queue. But last week we lost, so I started to adjust myself to a more abstinent lifestyle. About two days after we lost that game, I had already adjusted myself to perform my best. Those of you only reading the news shouldn’t be so quick to pass judgment on me. It’s incorrect. You’ll know the truth if you just check on my results in Korean solo queue. I didn’t do stuff that would affect my performance knowing I was about to play.”

Li has had issues in the past of letting his emotions get the best of him, but this is an entirely new kind of problem for the professional League of Legends player. Hopefully this new, chaste lifestyle will help him get his career back on track.
