Multicultural Music Making Mentees

Job description

These are two paid, fixed-term, development opportunities for freelance musicians. We are looking for individuals committed to delivering a great music-making experience for young people, and interested in contributing to the ongoing development of this new working method. The successful applicants will receive on-going mentoring from Friction Arts’ lead artists, develop their leadership skills, and gain first-hand experience of creative planning and delivery of workshops in school settings. You will meet guest musicians who deliver on this programme, as well as being introduced to Friction Arts’ wider programmes and opportunities.

Sessions Birmingham - min. 80 sessions (potentially more). Sessions are 3 hours each on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during term time. Please note, Tuesday workshops will only be commencing Spring Term 2018 (w/b 8th January 2018).

Walsall – min. 50 sessions (potentially more). Sessions are 3 hours each on Mondays and Fridays during term time. Please note, sessions in Walsall will begin in the second half of Autumn Term 2017 (w/b 30th October 2017).

Rate £45/session.

Interviews will be held on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th September, and potential mentees will be invited by Thursday 14th September to assist at a trial workshop in school on Wednesday 20th or Thursday 21st September. The successful applicants will be notified on Friday 22nd September, to start assisting sessions in schools the following week for our Birmingham programme, or our Walsall programme from w/b 30th October.
