Woman accused of faking unemployment to receive food stamps, Medicaid

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A Tallahassee woman has been arrested, accused of falsely reporting that she was unemployed in order to receive Medicaid and food stamp benefits.

Amber Drake, 37, was arrested Thursday and charged with public assistance fraud.

Arrest documents state that on multiple federal assistance applications filed from 2014 to 2016, Drake reported that she was unemployed. An investigation revealed that Drake was actually employed the entire time, earning total gross wages of more than $103,900.

Police say Drake received a total of $17,603.94 in Medicaid and food stamp program benefits that she was not actually eligible for.

Drake was booked into the Leon County Jail and bonded out on Thursday.

This is the fourth

in Tallahassee in just the last two weeks.
