The past year or so has seen a welcome deluge of Wi-Fi router innovation, and Portal seems to be one of the best newcomers in the space, particularly for smaller dwellings in congested, urban environments.

Portal includes app-based configuration, nine internal antennas, and mesh capabilities if you buy more than one...table stakes these days for a good router. That means that most of the time, these channels are practically empty, so you won’t have to worry about interference from your neighbors’ Wi-Fi networks. LifeStraws are great backpack staples for hiking, or nice gifts for the outdoorsmen in your life. And right now, they’re just $15, which is about as cheap as you’re likely to see them, with a few short-lived exceptions.

If you aren’t familiar, these allow you to sip directly from basically any source of fresh water you find in nature, and the filters will catch 99.9999% of bacteria, and 99.9% of parasites. That could come in handy during camping trips, or as you cling to life in a future post-nuclear hellscape.

First, let’s talk about what’s unchanged from the original OneBlade. Are these upgrades worth the standard $80 price tag, compared to the original’s $35? Personaly, I don’t think so. But as a happy OneBlade owner, I’m awfully tempted to upgrade for $70, especially since that would get me an extra blade which would normally cost around $15.
