While Tekken 7 has been playable in the arcades since March 2015, the game didn't actually release on consoles and the PC until June 2nd of this year. It's only been a little over two months since then.

Regardless of this, the game has been selling very well. It has been confirmed by Bandai Namco that over 1.66 million units have been sold worldwide.

The title has been especially successful in the Americas and Europe. Japan, after all, has had access to the arcade version for quite some time now.

It's certainly looking like the console version will easily meet its expectations by the end of the year. Namco is hoping to achieve 2.1 million sales by then.

Considering that there will be 3rd party characters joining Akuma, we expect there to be more attention given to Tekken 7 by the fighting game community. We already know about Geese joining the roster in the near future.
