Battleship USS Iowa Museum celebrates 5th anniversary
Five years ago Tuesday, the Battleship USS Iowa Museum opened, paying tribute to the former vessel of one of the U.S. Navy pacific fleet’s ships. On July 4, 2012, hundreds of veterans who served on the ship got the first visits. The World War II-era battleship is homed in the Port of Los Angeles near Rancho Palos Verdes. The battleship was first commissioned in 1943 and saw action in World War II, the Korean War and throughout the Cold War.
