Brewers GM

Didn't think we would be this good! Do I still trade Braun now??
Jason Martinez
4:41
Sorry for the late start. Busy roster day. Let's get started.
4:42
I think you did believe you would be this good but you didn't know the Cubs would be this bad. No, you should not trade your best hitter and there's probably no way he'd waive his no-trade clause now with the Brewers in a pennant race.
Earl
4:42
How high are you on braves Newcomb?
Jason Martinez
4:44
About the same as before the season started. Should be good mid-rotation guy. I thought he would come up at some point this season and contribute. More efficient than expected over 1st 4 starts.
Will
4:45
How much is Headley sweating with Andujar up now?
Jason Martinez
4:46
Not much right now. Andujar is there because of injuries and Headley has been pretty good as of late. Ask again in about 10 days, though.
Gogerty
4:47
Greetings sir, next big name traded?
Jason Martinez
4:47
With Sox and Yankees both in need of corner infield help, I think someone like Martin Prado or Matt Adams could go. If Yangervis Solarte was healthy, he would also be in the mix.
NOT Mickey Koke
4:48
We've heard A.J. Preller wants a Chapman type deal for Brad Hand. That won't happen, but what kind of package do you see that could make sense?
Jason Martinez
4:50
That's a good starting point in negotiations, but I think they'll settle for a prospect who is close to a Top 100 guy on a team with prospect depth.

4:51
Surprised by Miguel Montero DFA'd?
Jason Martinez
4:51
Not after hearing what he said. Catchers need to be leaders. He's also a veteran player on a young team. Needs to be one of the guys making sure everyone is pulling in the same direction. That stuff needs to be squashed right away.
The real Mike Trout
4:53
How is my team still in it without me?  I thought my team was doomed with my injury.
Jason Martinez
4:55
A lot of guys doing a lot better than expected. JC Ramirez, Parker Bridwell and Alex Meyer out of the rotation. Bud Norris, Blake Parker and David Hernandez out of the 'pen. Maybin and Simmons having good offensive seasons.
Ghost of Paul Depodesta
4:56
Would Joc Pederson/Brock Stewart/Estevez (# 10 prospect) get Garret Cole from the Pirates?
Jason Martinez
4:56
No. Probably need to include 2 of their top prospects in that deal ... Buehler, Verdugo, Calhoun, Alvarez.
Knights
4:57
Is Carson Fulmer destined for the 'Pen?
Jason Martinez
4:58
I think so, but there's not a huge rush to decide. Might as well let him continue to work on his repertoire as a starter, at least through this season.
EJ
5:00
what kind of package do you think the Cubs have to offer for Sonny Gray? Christian Yelich?
Jason Martinez
5:00
For Gray, I think it would have to start with Eloy or Cease. Probably both of those guys and a lot more for Yelich. Not sure they have enough for Yelich unless they wanted to include one of the guys currently in the Majors or Schwarber.
Carson Coley
5:01
What is the Angels' role come the trade deadline?
Jason Martinez
5:01
Looking to add a starting pitcher and maybe a 1B without giving up a lot. Because they don't have a lot to give up.
Brian
5:02
odds on Braves trading for Archer or Quintana?
Jason Martinez
5:02
I didn't see them calling up Swanson last season when they weren't in contention so I won't completely rule out a deal with an eye on 2018 and beyond. Would make more sense if they can get a few games closer to a playoff spot. They're getting there.
Chris Smith
5:03
Will Saunders join Jays before July 31?
Jason Martinez
5:04
Very good chance he's up sooner. Just needs to put up good numbers in AAA, which shouldn't be difficult as long as he's healthy.
Zac
5:04
Would the Rockies trade Brenden Rodgers?
Jason Martinez
5:06
He would be the key to them landing a frontline starter with years of club control. But I always consider the risk factor of not knowing how a pitcher will adjust to Coors Field so it would be a bold move. I don't think they would.
Carter
5:06
Surprised Carter accepted an outright to Yankee AAA?
Jason Martinez
5:07
Not really. I'm sure he took a look around the league and had a pretty good idea that staying put was his best chance. Not a lot of 1B/DH jobs available.

5:09
If the Brewers remain in contention, which area of the farm system would be best to trade for a rental or two? I'd like to see them flip an OF prospect for a decent relief pitcher
Jason Martinez
5:09
It's such a deep farm system. I think they can do better than a rental. Brad Hand would be a good fit with Knebel and Barnes.
Brian cashman
5:10
If cardinals sell, what would it take to acquire Carlos Martinez?
Jason Martinez
5:11
Too much for anyone to even bother. Improving frontline starter under team control thru '23. Would take a team to empty their farm system of their top talent. That's risky, even if it's not for a pitcher (because pitchers get hurt a lot).
Chief
5:14
The Phillies NEED a LH SP. Could Gonzales (StL) be had without going overboard?
Jason Martinez
5:15
More of an offseason kind of a deal and an offseason priority. Don't think Gonzales has regained enough value since injuries so Cardinals would rather wait and hope he finishes the season strong. Better than selling low.
Grayson
5:17
What would happen if someone like Bryant said what montero said last night?
Jason Martinez
5:17
I think it would've been a huge surprise if Bryant said something like that. If any young player says something dumb, one of the team leaders would've had a talk with him and hoped it sank in. Kind of like the Dodgers veterans have to do with Puig a lot.
Alex Cobb
5:18
What's my market like? Will the Rays even trade me?
