Former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Clay Aiken, who was fired by the man who is now the President of the United States, is revealing some of the Donald Trump's television secrets.

In a recent interview with News & Observer's Domecast podcast, the American Idol runner-up revealed that Trump didn't even decide who would be let go from the NBC show each week.

"Trump didn’t decide who got fired on Apprentice, I mean, NBC made those decisions," said Aiken, who was on the show in 2012.

In other words, Trump's infamous catchphrase should have really been, "You're fired, I guess!"

According to Aiken, when the contestants gathered in the boardroom to learn who was sticking around for another week, Trump sat in front of an item that looked like a phone. However, the device was actually a teleprompter that producers used to send him notes.

The revelation isn't that surprising, because, well, that's reality television. That said, it is interesting to hear that Trump's public business decisions on The Apprentice were not his own, considering he's built himself up as such an iconic businessman over the years.

Though Aiken acknowledged that Trump wasn't the hardcore businessman people thought he was, he still had kind words to share about the president.

"I always liked him, and I imagine that in person if I saw him again today I would be charmed by him again because he's a very gracious person. He's a nice guy," Aiken said.

Aiken also noted that some of Trump's behaviors in the White House have caused him to reflect on his Apprentice experience and understand it a bit more.

"I think to myself, the man as president definitely has a teleprompter sitting on his desk right now with people telling him, 'Oh, such and such is in the healthcare bill, don't say this.' And I feel like half the time his teleprompter has broken down as president and he doesn't know what's going on," Aiken said.

Interesting theory, Clay. Verrrrrrrrry interesting.
