Building collapse in Mumbai

12 people have died and 16 injured after a four-storey residential building collapsed in suburban Ghatkopar. BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Stay with TOI for all live updates.

So far, five admitted (three in Rajawadi hospital, two in Shantiniketan hospital), four discharged and four dead (Rajawadi 3, Shantiniketan 1).

Repair work may have caused collapse

Residents of the building said that Sunil Shitap, owner of the hospital that was operating from the ground floor, had been carrying out repair work. The pillars of the structure might have been hit by the repair work leading to the collapse.
