SAN FRANCISCO – After throwing seven strong innings in the Giants’ 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, Jeff Samardzija made it clear that he has no interest in being traded.

The Giants are 40-63 this season, but he believes that the team has the core talent to turn it around in 2018.

He has some say in the matter. Samardzija can select eight teams annually to which he can be dealt without his permission. If the Giants approach him with a potential deal to a team not on his list, he said he would reject it.

Samardzija’s list of permitted teams is full of big markets and bright lights. And it would rule out the Houston Astros, who have been rumored to be interested in him. Let’s break it down:

Boston Red Sox: We bet Samardzija would race to Dennis Eckersley’s defense. He’s that kind of guy.

Chicago Cubs: The team that drafted and developed him also has a much sweeter home clubhouse since he last pitched there.

New York Mets: He could pick whatever day he wants to pitch in the rotation, since the Mets have no healthy pitchers.

New York Yankees: If a benches-clearing brawl breaks out, just don’t accidentally crash into Aaron Judge.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim: Shark sightings daily at Huntington Beach.

Los Angeles Dodgers: It’s nothing personal, Giants fans.

Oakland A’s: Wouldn’t have to break his lease. Smart.

Washington Nationals: Teammates with Bryce Harper, the player he tried to cold cock over Memorial Day weekend. Now that would be a hoot!
