Police navigate nightmarish track to save campers surrounded by raging US inferno

The apocalyptic road US Sheriffs travelled to rescue 82 children and adult campers trapped by a raging Californian bushfire is revealed on just-released dashcam footage.
In a scene resembling a Zombie horror movie, a vehicle slowly winds its way towards Circle V Ranch Camp in Santa Barbara County.
Visibility is practically nil, as trees burn either side of the road and flaming embers lay strewn across the narrow dirt track.
At one point the police vehicle is beaten back as raging flames jump from one side of the road to the other.
Emergency services were concerned there could be dozens of deaths as California's Whittier fire, which is still burning out of control, closed in on Circle V Ranch Camp.
Eighty-two people were trapped when a wall of flames, falling trees and debris blocked the dirt road to the camp.
They were saved when 13 police and search and rescue vehicles made it to the camp and drove everyone to safety.
"I was able to make access into the camp through all the smoke and flames and all the debris on the road. It was tough at some points," US Forest Service Patrolman Dave Dahlberg told news outlet KSBY.
Dahlberg described seeing a wall of flames less than 200 metres away from the camp.
"I assured them that we were in a safe place and that we would all get out safely," Dahlberg said.
Almost 2000 fire fighters are tackling the huge bushfire which has burned 17 homes and led to the evacuation of 2600 people, according to The LA Times.
The Whittier fire in Santa Barbara County now covers 18000 acres.
