The Value of Longer Delayed MRI in the Diagnosis of Solitary Necrotic Nodule of the Liver and Its Differential Diagnosis from Other Mimic Diseases

Abstract: Objective To investigate the role of longer delayed MRI in the diagnosis of SNNL and the differential diagnosis of it from other mimic diseases.Methods After undergoing plain and triphasic contrast-enhanced CT and MRI,16 patients with SNNL received multiphasic longer delayed MRI examination.Concurrently,23 patients with intrahepatic malignant lesions were defined as control group and also received longer delayed MRI scans.The imaging findings of these lesions were evaluated to identify the difference between SNNL and those mimic diseases.Results For 16 tumors pathologically confirmed as SNNL,4 and 8 exhibited mild peripheral enhancement on conventional delayed phase CT and MRI,respctively.As the delayed time extended,the enhancement degree of tumor periphery increased gradually.When it was 1 h,all lesions demonstrated moderate to marked peripheral enhancement with central non-enhancement.In the control group,most lesions presented obvious peripheral enhancement on routine delayed phase MRI and peripheral enhancement in all lesions disappeared in 1h-delayed phase.Conclusion Longer delayed MRI with delayed time of 1h could play an important role in the diagnosis of SNNL and its differential diagnosis from other mimic diseases.It reveals the characteristic imaging manifestation of SNNL as marked peripheral enhancement with central non-enhancement.
