They didn't get Connor McDavid money, but they got money from the comfort of their own homes.
From tractors and lawn mowers, to be exact.
San Jose Sharks center Joe Thornton and Florida Panthers defenseman Mark Pysyk were among the latest NHL players to land new contracts in free agency, with Thornton signing a one-year, $8 million deal to stay in San Jose and Pysyk re-upping in South Florida for three years.
And both of them made sure they put their John Hancocks on extensions while taking care of the yard.
Top Shelf Hockey, Thornton's agency, tweeted a picture of the 38-year-old Sharks veteran signing his new contract from the seat of a diesel mower.

And Pysyk, with a jab of fun at #JumboJoe and his own push mower, did an imitation act a few days later with his own front-lawn paperwork.
Very excited to be back with @FlaPanthers for 3 more years! Still got some work to do to get a real ride on mower. #jumbojoe #legend pic.twitter.com/gPfaCd0RYN
