A British cyclist has been killed after being hit by a car in Romania.
Police said a 56-year-old man was killed and two other cyclists were injured after a car hit them in the east of the country earlier this afternoon.
The tourist, who has not yet been named, suffered a fatal heart attack, according to the Daily Mail.
Emergency crews airlifted a second male cyclist, aged 60, to hospital in the city of Galati.
A police spokesperson said the tourist had sustained head and chest injuries.
A third man, who was also 60, was taken to hospital in the nearby city of Tulcea.
Police said a 20-year-old man had been driving the car near the village of Agighiol.
The driver had failed to ‘keep his distance’ from the cyclist and been detained for questioning, a spokesperson said.
