“I thought, we gotta try something different," Hemsworth said. "If we’re gonna make a third Thor, we have to really push the envelope and experiment. So that’s what this film is.”“[It's] something incredibly unique and different not only for the thor world but the Marvel universe,” Hemsworth said. "He gets his ass kicked in this film, mainly by [The Hulk]."
The attention then turned to Thor's half-brother Loki and actor Tom Hiddleston, who spoke to the state of things for his character.
“Well it’s been four years, and if you saw Thor: The Dark World you will know that Loki is on the throne of Asgard pretending to be Odin," Hiddleston said.
"So Thor comes home and things are a little different in Asgard. Loki has directed most of his energies into narcissistic self-glorification...but Ragnarok is coming and Loki’s allegiances have always been slightly unpredictable," Hiddleston said. "What his part in it is, you’ll just have to wait and see.”
Next up was Mark Ruffalo discussing this new version of The Hulk we'll see in Thor: Ragnarok, since the actor has said there won't be a standalone Hulk movie.
"It’s a little different Hulk than we’ve seen," Ruffalo said. "Hulk refuses to turn back into Banner. He’s actually enjoying his time on Sakaar because he's a gladiator champion on the world of Sakaar, which means he kicks a lot of A."
"He’s enjoying his life for once and he’ll be damned if he’s going to go back to Banner,” Ruffalo said.
Jeff Goldblum was next up to speak a little bit about his character, The Grandmaster, though this version of The Grandmaster looks different than the character in the comics.
"Yes, I’m The Collector’s brother, Benicio Del Toro," Goldblum said. "We’re very old. We’re elders of the universe. We came about shortly after The Big Bang.”
“Yeah, oldest living race, they call us, in the thing. Grandmaster and my brother Collector,” Goldblum laughed. "It’s amazing."
“Now I rule on this planet Sakaar and I put together games, mostly." Goldblum said. "Fighting games. And I put together the great, great match between Hulk and the new Thor. I put that together for your entertainment pleasure.”
Moving on, actress Tessa Thompson shared some details on Valkyrie and what her relationship is to the ruler of Sakaar.
“She is an elite warrior of Asgard who’s hanging out on Sakaar for reasons I can’t really elaborate on," Thompson said. "She has a relationship with The Grandmaster. It’s not romantic, maybe it used to be, he’s a friend from work. She picks up little pieces from around town that are of interest and one of them happens to be a great, godlike thing.”
But one character who won't appear in the Marvel movie is Jane Foster, portrayed by Natalie Portman.
