Hump Day Herf HDH 5JULY2017: America the Beautiful

4th of July, America's Birthday. For this week's theme, America the Beautiful, let's keep the Fourth of July celebration going by showing off your beautiful American pipes.

You say you don't have any American pipes that are beautiful? Well, there's a proud American tradition of finding beauty in well used items that just get the job done--an old pick-up truck with 250,000+ miles and still pulling strong, a cowboy's worn saddle, a simple pair of well-made boots. You get the idea. If you don't have a pretty pipe, pick one that's a pretty good pipe instead.

I have this one covered.

I REALLY have this one covered.

I also have an old Ford pickup with over 280,000 on it that still runs great. Wanna see a pic.?

There's about a 90% chance that I'll be using a Tinsky Bulldog, a 7% chance for one of my VT Freehand mortas, and a 3% chance that I'll use one of my MM Cobs. The number might be a bit off because I was calculating it in my head.

Kaywoodies and cobs. I'm down. (For the purposes of this post, Medico and Yello-Bole are included with Kaywoodie.)

I will probably be lighting up a WWII era Kaywoodie, which was made without the usual aluminum stinger because of the metal shortage and war effort, even came with a note from the manufacturer saying so. Loaded with either Carter Hall or Prince Albert tobacco..All American!

Cool! I've got some dr grabows and tons of cobs. Would love to try one of my kaywoodies for the first time. Just not sure if I'll have time to get they clean by then.

While I love my Tinsky's, this may call for more of the old school pipes.. MM Cob, or one of my Dr Grabow's, I'm thinking.

I'm going with a long weekend herf on this one.
I'm kicking it off with a Hackert and some Boswell's apple strudel

Some Carter Hall from 1981 in a vintage Yello-Bowl, along with a 1990 F150 in all its glory...216,997.0 miles on it. The Ford still works great and is currently loaded with brush to haul off to the pasture when the ground gets dry enough to drive out there. Dang I need to wash that old truck.
