Google Pixel 2: Everything we know so far (Updated: September 25)

If you are a Verizon kinda guy or gal and you’ve been looking to get your hands on one of Google’s flagship devices, this is your chance. America’s largest carrier is running a special promotion that lets you save up to $289.99 on the regular Google Pixel and the Pixel XL. Plus, if you buy a Google Home from Verizon before July 5 along with your phone purchase, they will even give you that money back in the form of a Visa Prepaid Card.

Let’s start with the smaller of the two: if you buy a Google Pixel with Verizon’s unlimited monthly plan, Verizon will reduce the monthly device installment fee from $27.08 to just $15. Indeed, given that this phone officially launched with a $649.99 price tag, paying $360 isn’t all that bad if you were planning to go with the carrier’s unlimited plan anyway. If you opt for a non-unlimited plan, the monthly cost will be $20 instead.

The Pixel XL sees a similar price cut: with an unlimited plan, the monthly payment is $20 instead of $32.08, bringing the total cost of the device to $480 instead of the suggested retail price of $769.99. Without an unlimited plan, it will be $25 a month. It’s worth mentioning that if you already own a Verizon Pixel phone, you can switch your plan to unlimited in order to receive the $15/month deal for the regular Pixel and $20/month deal for the bigger sibling.

Not only that, Big Red has another promotion for potential Google Pixel and Pixel XL buyers, which officially ends on July 5. With every eligible purchase of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Verizon will be offering you a free Google Home. You do have to pay for it first, and you have to buy it at the same retailer as your phone, but after submitting your rebate request online, the carrier will give you $129.99 back in a Visa Prepaid Card.

With the Pixel 2 set to be unveiled this autumn, we are seeing more deals for the first-gen Pixel devices. They’re still solid options, however, considering their camera quality and pure Android software. So if you’re on a hunt for a relatively affordable flagship that provides the best unadulterated Android experience – and if you don’t mind getting a free Google Home – this is it.
