The holiday season has arrived. With Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, Boxing Day, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and the New Year all coming up, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate.
But, the holiday season also means shopping and sales. Since your fans are likely in the buying mood, why not show them some love by offering a deal on your music!
[The Complete Guide to Selling Your Music Online]
Here’s how you can use 3 of our Pro Plan features to help boost your online music sales during the holidays:
1. Sale Pricing
Having a sale is a great way to thank your fans, and even clear out some old inventory. With our sale pricing feature, it's easy to offer a deal on music and merch through your website.
To put an item on sale, just go to the Music or Store feature and click on the album, track, or merch item. Then check the box to set the item on sale and enter a dollar amount, or percentage discount. Either way, we’ll display the % discount for your website visitors to see.
And remember, all sales are commission-free through Bandzoogle. Whether you sell music and merch at full price, or at a discount, you always keep 100% of your sales!
Tip: Make the sale temporary
Whenever you put your music or merch on sale, make sure to let fans know that it’s for a limited time only. This will encourage fans to act fast, and save money while they can .

2. Discount Codes
Don’t want to offer just any visitor to your website a discount on your music and merch? Try creating a discount code that you can send just to your fans through the mailing list tool.
You can create discount codes in just a few clicks, and customize them to reflect any percentage discount you’d like to offer. When fans shop at your online store, they can easily enter the code at checkout!
3. Pre-orders
But wait, maybe your music isn’t ready yet? No problem. With our pre-orders feature you can put an album on sale now, and send the music in the New Year. This will allow you to generate some revenue during the holiday shopping season, which will also help cover costs of finishing your album.
Then once you’re ready to release the album, simply go to the Pre-Order tab in the Music feature and click Release. This will make your album available for purchase and send download links to fans who already ordered it.
How to promote your holiday sale
Of course, if you’re having a sale, offering discount codes, or taking pre-orders for an album, the most important thing is letting people know about it! Here are some ways to help get the word out to your fans:
Website
There are a few things that you can do on your website to bring attention to your sale:
Landing page: You can create a landing page on Bandzoogle by adding an “Intro page” in the Edit Content tab. Remember, this should only be a temporary page. Make sure that the landing page is simple, has a call-to-action to visit your Music or Store page, and a clear link to enter the website.
Blog post: Use the Blog feature to give fans visitors details about your sale, how to get access to the holiday discount code (tip: ask them to sign up to your mailing list!) or how to pre-order your new album. That way if someone is checking out your latest news, they’ll see info about your sale.
Call-to-action: Even if you’ve already created a landing page, you should also make your sale the primary call-to-action on your Homepage. Our theme Encore includes a call-to-action header feature that makes this really easy to do.
Mailing List
When it comes to reliably reaching your fans, especially when you’re looking to generate revenue, email still reigns supreme. Email marketing has even been shown to be as much as 40 times more effective than Facebook and Twitter combined.
So be sure to send an email blast the day your sale starts, and again on the last day as a final reminder. Keep the email short, with a clear call-to-action for people to click to visit the Music or Store page on your website where you’re selling your music online.

Social media
If you’re looking to promote your sale beyond your core fans on your mailing list, then you’ll want to use social media marketing as part of your strategy. Be sure to post updates to let your fans know when your sale starts, and when it’s about to end.
Each social media platform has its own best practices to be effective. So be sure to check out our posts on how to use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to promote your music.
