BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, which combines three fighting-game franchises — BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena and Under Night In-Birth — while giving RWBY its long-awaited fighting game debut, was announced today at Evo 2017.

RWBY (pronounced "Ruby") is an American anime-style franchise by Rooster Teeth. It had been rumored for a fighting game announcement in the week leading up to Evo 2017, beginning with this tweet from Rooster Teeth. The remainder of the roster will draw from basically anything Arc System Works makes or publishes that isn’t Guilty Gear.

That made RWBY the one-more-thing surprise at the close of the video shown at Evo 2017. The trailer rolled after the conclusion of the BlazBlue grand finals at Evo 2017. .

From the the trailer, it appears that BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will feature a 2 vs. 2 tag system allowing players to choose two characters from each franchise. Outside of that, there aren’t many other details about the fighting game system, considering that each game feature has unique systems of their own. It’s unclear how Arc System Works will handle that mashup, but we’ll have more details soon.

Arc System Works confirmed that the game will get a 2018 launch date.
