After the New York Knicks put a reported in-the-works deal sending Carmelo Anthony to  Houston Rockets on hold, the New York Post's Marc Berman reports the team is hoping Anthony -- who has a no-trade clause -- would be open to a trade somewhere other than Houston or Cleveland, his previously reported trade choices. Via the New York Post:

According to the source, Knicks acting president Steve Mills wants to meet with Anthony to see where his head is at before proceeding any further.

The primary hope, according to the source, is Anthony decides to open up his wish list beyond the Rockets and Cavaliers, as he has a no-trade clause. The Celtics would've been in play, but they signed Gordon Hayward.

According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne, the Knicks were hoping they may be able to convince the All-Star forward to stay, with new management in place. Via ESPN:

The New York Knicks are pausing trade talks centered on Carmelo Anthony and want to pursue a conversation with the 10-time NBA All-Star about possibly reincorporating him into the organization, league sources told ESPN.

Regardless, Anthony still holds the no-trade-clause card, putting him in control after the Knicks' repeated attempts to get rid of him.
