Starting today, if you own Logos 7 Starter Feature Set or higher, you can enjoy free access to the new Logos web app, available at app.logos.com. Until now, the web app was available only to Logos Now members and Logos Cloud subscribers. Now we're opening it up to owners of Logos 7 feature sets as well. (The same is true of the Verbum web app and Verbum 7.)

As you might expect, the web app does not have feature parity with our 25-years-in-the-making desktop app. At this point, we're still considering it a beta, largely due to the absence of a few important features, like cross-platform syncing of notes and highlights. But in its current state the web app should be a helpful tool for both new users and existing desktop and mobile users. However, desktop (and mobile) users should note that notes and highlights from the web app will not show up in the desktop app and vice versa. This is a temporary state. After we get the new notes system built out on the web, we'll be bringing it to desktop and mobile as well and migrating all notes and highlights over. You are not at risk of any data loss. We will preserve and migrate your notes and highlights from both the old and the new systems. You just won't be able to access them from all platforms during this transitional period.

If you have feedback on the web app, we'd love to hear it over in the Logos web app forum.

Enjoy! Get started by checking out our introduction video.

Edit: I updated the post to let users know that the web app is still in beta, doesn't have feature parity with desktop, and doesn't sync desktop and mobile notes and highlights yet.

I think I'll let the Now'ers continue their beta testing.

In my main browser, the login icon is dead. I switched to Safari where I have a login cookie already.  3 of the boxes never did anything (the busy symbol). I clicked on library, and that didn't do anything that I could see.

Not complaining. It looks like it'll be great for the church ... Bible classes, etc (presuming wifi load).

No. This is a permanent move.

Phil I am providing feedback here because in your announcement you failed in your duty of care to customers to make some very significant current risks of using the web app for notes and highlighting clear to your customers.

The web app is being used as a sandpit to develop a new approach to notes and highlights. Thetefore notes and highlights from desktop and mobile apps are not accessible via the web app. And more significantly any notes and highlights created on the web app are isolated to the web app. Your notes and highlights created in this environment are isolated and if for whatever reason you are not able to access the web app servers a user will loose access to those notes and highlights. So do not use rely upon this feature of web app for any critical work.

The web app has lots of other limitations, it is not on par with the desktop app, but had come along way. Enjoy and appreciate it for what it is but be wary of its limitations, particulaly when FL choose not to do the right thing and disclose them in this announcement or in the introductory video.

Awesome!  I've been using Biblia a bit over the past few weeks, and I was wondering how far the web app had come along since my Verbum Now subscription days.  Thanks Phil and FL for the cool upgrade.

I would note that in my experience this does not apply to sermon documents. I have created new sermon documents on the desktop that I could access on the website and vice versa without issue. I do not believe DoC was indicating that there are any problems with sermon documents, but I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else make a decision about using the website. I love the website, which has breathed new life into my aging Chromebook C720.

Correct Matthew, this does not apply to sermon documents. It only applies to notes and highlights and I not saying don't use the web app or this feature. I am saying use them with your eyes wide open to the risk when it comes to critical work that you can not afford to loose access.

Thank you for adding the clarifying remark.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry for not providing more context in my original post. I've updated it to make people aware of the missing features, which I assumed most people would notice the first time they loaded the app or by following the web app forum, where this has been discussed in detail.

Phil thank you for updating your communication in response to the issue I raised. I think you are making a big assumption that users will read every forum post and find the one where the current isolation of notes and highlights are discussed. Regularly we see people post on these forums and ask about things that were an announced or discussed only recent to their question. I hope FL do the right thing and make clear this isolation of notes and highlights blog posts made about the web app. Updating your announcement here is just the first step in doing the right thing by your customers.

I believe you never intended to do the wrong thing but FL need to get back to basics in communicating with their customers and be open about details like this rather than just assuming the customer will know this or that or find out about it in a forum thread somewhere along the line.

I look foward to seeing the web app's continued development. The team working on it has done a great job so far.

Starting today...

I would like to say through you to Faithlife that this is (IMO) an excellent move by Logos. I had concerns around the time that the LN subscription lost its monthly option that rather than making it easier for Christian's to access God's Word such moves were, in fact, making it harder for them to do so.

However, the release of Logos basic and now the move to make the web app more widely available is a move in the correct direction for an organisation like Faithlife.

As an LN member, I'm glad to see a product that we have Beta Tested make its way out to general users. I hope this model continues in the future.

As for notes, can't wait to get a glimpse of what is in store for us.

Blessings, Liam

Carpe verbum.

I agree with your sentiment Liam but we must not make the mistake of forgeting the web app is still a beta and still very incomplete.

This is not to take away from the excellent work done by the team but we need to be careful of creating false perceptions of what the web app is and is not, FL marketing will do that on their own without our help.

I don't know the marketing team by name, but I doubt our brothers and sisters in Christ are setting out to deceive anyone about the web app.

Let's show the same love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness to others that Christ does to us!

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

I sure hope the web app hasn't gone thru beta testing yet.

My first encounter was an empty library. Now I have one, but titles are worse than the mobile app.

Then I got a book info popup panel with no close. Trying to close it opened even more books.

I see a free pre-beta.

Petah where did I say in my post FL set out to deceive?

I have seen a number of times where they have overstated the truth not only about the web app but many other things over the years. I hope you never have the bad experiences I have and along with poor responses at times from FL staff from the top down. Thus you will never truly understand why I am wary of their marketing. Simply respect that my experience are not yours and don't be quick to judge me because our experiences differ.

Maybe yiu haven't been through the things and seen the things I have in life but showing love, grace, mercy and forgiveness does not always mean giving back complete trust to a person or organisation who had wronged you. Sometimes it means putting up boundaries that don't allow them back in your life, and other times boundaries that alliw then in your life but they are not given complete trust and free reign. So be careful preaching blind love, grace, mercy and forgiveness to people. We still all are fallen people in a fallen world and despite love, grace, mercy and fotgiveness there are still people we need to be wary of in this llife.

I hope not ... latest normal iOS, Safari, latest ipod.

Not concerned... I think their horses are way out ahead of the wagon. The mobile apps seemed more stable when intro'd years back.

But happy the Now'ers are thrilled.
