A deer walked into a bar.

No, it’s not a joke, it really happened in Swansea.

Anna Redfern, the owner of Cinema & Co on Castle Street, was sat in the entrance bar area on Monday when in strolled a baby deer.

At first she thought that it was a dog but it soon dawned on her that a real life Bambi had just walked in from the street.

She said: “I was just sat at a table on my laptop and it ran in. At first I thought that it was a dog but then I noticed it has little antlers and it was prancing about. It ran behind the bar and then jumped into the sink and then ran towards the plants in the window.

"It jumped into the window, trying to get out, and then it squeezed behind the furniture and managed to run back out the door.

“It turned left and ran towards High Street.

“I called the police, because I was worried about its welfare, but they couldn’t find it and hadn’t found anyone who had seen it.”

Fittingly for an independent cinema, it was caught on film.

She said: “My friend Katie was also here and she managed to catch it on her phone, running out.”

The incident took place on Monday but Miss Redfern still has no i-deer where the animal came from.

She said: “We are anxious to find out what happened to it as it was only a baby.

“I’m so confused as to where it came from. Even if it came from Margam Park, that’s 15 miles away. It couldn’t have escaped from transport because they are wild.

“It’s so random. It’s like one of those urban myths you hear about sat in a pub.”

Offering one improbable solution she added: “We do film requests, perhaps it came in to request Bambi!”
