Amy Schumer’s next comedy has a release date.
STXfilms announced that I Feel Pretty will hit theaters on June 29, 2018. It will open opposite the Warner Bros. ensemble comedy Tag and an untitled Fox animated film. That date is also the current release date of Sony’s live-action Barbie movie, which Schumer exited earlier this year due to scheduling conflicts.
I Feel Pretty marks the directorial debut of screenwriters Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, and also stars Michelle Williams, Emily Ratajkowski and Rafe Spall. The comedy centers on Schumer as Renee Barrett, an ordinary woman who struggles with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy on a daily basis and finds herself waking from a fall and believing she is suddenly the most beautiful and capable woman on the planet.
Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG and Mary Viola are producing with Voltage Pictures’ Alissa Phillips, Dominic Rustam and Nicolas Chartier. Schumer is also producing, and Kevin Kane is co-producing. Jonathan Deckter and Justin Bursch are serving as executive producers. Production begins this month in Boston.
Schumer’s previous two comedy features also hit theaters during the summer box-office season: this summer’s Snatched, which bowed in May, grossed $59 million worldwide, while 2015’s Trainwreck, which debuted in mid-July, grossed $140 million worldwide.
