Prost! There’ll be a chance to raise a glass of traditional German beer when the German Bierfest Swansea 2017 brings the "city's biggest ever beer garden” to Swansea this summer.

Along with the beer garden there'll be a central festival tent and areas for families, with beer in two-pint glasses and food all served up by staff dressed in Bavarian costume.

When and where is it?

German Bierfest Swansea 2017 will take place at Swansea Museum Park, just outside the National Waterfront Museum , from Thursday, August 3 until Sunday, August 6.

It will be open from noon until 11pm daily, expect on Sunday when it will close at 7.30pm.

The central FestTent will be open from 4pm until 11pm on Thursday and Friday, from noon until 5pm and 5.30pm until 11pm on Saturday, and from noon until 7.30pm on Sunday.

Do I need tickets?

Yes and no.

General admission is free, and there's no need to pay or book to visit the German Village, Bier Garden or the FunTime areas.

But the Bavarian FestTent is ticketed, with a limited number of seats.

For £5, you can get a "Limited Special Tent Ticket" which includes a reserved seat and a half pint of FestBier

For £20 to £25, you can get a "Bier Ticket" which includes a reserved seat, a stein of FestBier, and a food plate with Bavarian-style giant sausage and a digestif.

For £30 to £35, you can get a "VIP Ticket" which includes priority entrance, a reserved seat in the VIP area, a glass of Schlumberger sekt, a stein of bier, a food plate with Bavarian-style grilled chicken, and a digestif.

What beer will be there and how strong it is?

Beer will be served by staff dressed in Bavarian costume in two-pint glasses. The selection of German beers on offer will include:

Weiss beer - 5.5%

Festival beer - 5%

Lager beer - 4.5%

What about food?

Traditional food from Germany and Austria will be served to "make sure you get a taste of the Tyrolean way of life."

Keep an eye out for Bavarian-style giant sausages and grilled chicken.

What areas will be there?

The Beer Garden

Drink a traditional beer in the sun (hopefully), where the "Oomph" music will be playing in the open air.

The German Village

Explore the wooden huts, which will be selling everything from Bratwurst to authentic German products.

The FunTime area

The place for families, where little ones can enjoy traditional German fun activities.

In the evening and Saturday afternoon, there'll be a Bavarian party in the FestTent. The DJ show will "make you dance on the benches" - or on our dance floor, if you prefer - and join in with a sing-a-long.
