The Cities With The Most Five Star Hotels [Infographic]

This article is more than 6 years old.

A long list of luxurious hotels can reveal a lot about a city from the quality of its shops to the amount of upmarket attractions it offers. Some places boast serious clout in the hospitality stakes and when it comes to planning a luxurious getaway, London takes some beating. According to a recent report from Knight Frank that used Five Star Alliance data, the UK's capital has 75 five star hotels, the most of any city globally. All of those luxurious listings do push average hotel prices to extortionate levels with HRS reporting earlier this year that a room in London averages $217 per night, placing it among the top-5 most expensive cities for hotels worldwide.

Dubai has enormous levels of wealth and the UAE doesn't have to compete with neighboring countries like Saudi Arabia and Iraq when it comes to attracting tourists. That has seen its hotel industry flourish in recent years and it comes second in the five star hotel league with 61 in total. New York has a near endless list of iconic attractions of course, coupled with exquisite cuisine and countless opportunities for splurging cash. It comes third with 59 five star hotels, though it comes first in price with the nightly rate averaging $306. With 56 five star hotels, Paris comes fourth while Miami comes fifth with 46.
