To browse through her Instagram page, you might think Kayla Itsines has a luscious head of hair - which is perfectly accessorised with activewear and a high ponytail.
But in Instagram as in life, it would seem all is not as it seems.
The Adelaide-born fitness guru revealed on her Instagram page on Monday night that she has 'genetically really thin hair' and a 'family history of female pattern baldness'.

'I have had a lot of you girls ask me about my hair!!,' the 26-year-old began her honest post.
'So here is a fact that I haven't actually ever really spoken about. My natural hair is actually super short. I have genetically really thin hair (my grandma and mum both have really thin hair as does a lot of my family).'
She then added that often she will wear a 'clip-in ponytail when I want long hair'.

'I have a family history of female pattern baldness... I know we all have our own little insecurities, and one of mine has always been my hair, but it is just me!
'I can see my hair getting thinner and thinner the older I get,' Kayla said - clarifying that she will 'not let it rule my life'.
'Instead I focus on being healthy and happy,' she added - calling upon her 7.1 million Instagram followers to share their own tales of hair loss and thinning locks.

Kayla shared the update in order to start a conversation around baldness or thinning hair and others who might struggle with it
