Abstract: Objective:To provide reference data for the standardized management of off-label use of drugs in outpatients in The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University. Methods:A total of 603 700 prescriptions for outpatients in this hospital from November 2014 to October 2015 were screened for offlabel use of drugs. Referring to the information such as drug instructions, the guidelines and documents in journals, the prescriptions were analyzed and summarized according to indication, dosage, frequency, administration route and applicable people(gender, age). According to the evidence-based basis and the actual situation of this hospital, the classification management draft and the catalogue of common off-label use in outpatient were made and applied to practice in the dispensary for outpatients. Results:There were 14 352 prescriptions with off-label use, which accounted for 2.38% of the total prescriptions. Conclusion:Off-label use should take into account the evidencebased medical basis, and the establishment of classification management draft and catalogue of common off-label use in may provide a certain reference for pharmacist on prescription checking.
