Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.41%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Food and Banking sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.41% to hit a new 52-week high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which rose 9.80% or 0.0250 points to trade at 0.2800 at the close. Meanwhile, Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) added 4.99% or 0.2200 points to end at 4.6400 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 4.20% or 0.010 points to 0.248 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Halcor (AT:XAKO), which fell 6.46% or 0.051 points to trade at 0.739 at the close. J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) declined 4.92% or 0.035 points to end at 0.676 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was down 3.88% or 0.040 points to 0.990.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 59 to 52 and 9 ended unchanged.

Shares in Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.80% or 0.0250 to 0.2800. Shares in Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.20% or 0.010 to 0.248.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.53% or 6.45 to $1221.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.58% or 0.26 to hit $45.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $47.55 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1421, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.8865.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 95.54.
