Customers have mixed opinions about the connectivity of the thermometer. Some mention that the Bluetooth connection works well in a limited range with very few walls, while others say that it consistently loses connection when they are in their house. The signal stays strong and functions as expected when they stay outside. However, some customers also say that the bluetooth connection is poor and doesn't reach as far as they would like, and they have issues with the probe reconnecting after they've walked out of the transmitter's range. The connection process is too verbose and isn't super intuitive.

Customers are mixed about the temperature of the thermometer. Some mention that it's spot on accurate, while others say that it doesn't report temperature correctly. The device comes with preprogrammed FDA's recommended temperature for doneness for most meats, but some say that the temperature fluctuates about 20 degrees during a cook.

Customers are mixed about the accuracy of the thermometer. Some mention that it is extremely accurate, while others say that the calibration might not be dead on, it is within 3 degrees of the nfs meat, and it breaks after a short time. There is no readout on the unit itself, and some say that it started giving random readings and did not read well through walls.
"Neat idea. Easy to use and good range.Pros:Accurate, pairs easily with iPhone. has Apple watch capabilitiesCons:..." Read more

The thermometer is accurate and very easy to use. It lets you know when your meat is 10 degrees from being ready and then sends another alert when its done! My husband put on the chicken, came in and watched a football game while it was cooking, and took it off when the iGrill said it was done. It was perfectly cooked. The cons listed below do not detract dramatically from my opinion of this product. It is a nice little thermometer.
A couple of cons, though. There is no readout on the unit itself. It would have been nice to have that and couldn't have cost too much to add that to the design. Also, the range is pretty short- 150 feet if you're lucky.
My one regret is that I did not spring for the larger model. That one does have the readout on the unit and room for four probes. I realize now that more than one probe is a real plus. My mistake.
I e-mailed support using the link from inside the app, only to get an automated response that they weren't responsible for the device anymore as Weber had bought them out.
I poked around and found the Weber version of the app, which was produced after they bought out the original producer of this device. It also failed to connect.
I finally e-mailed Webber support who did their best to blame my devices, even though by that point I'd tried 4 different Android based devices and failed to connect in every one of them. Webber eventually told me I had to uninstall all the iDevices app and the Webber app, then install the Webber app again. After doing this the device actually connected... but only on my Oneplus One and none of my other Android devices, and only if I fiddled with manually unpairing the device in my bluetooth settings and then re-pairing it, and if I got out of range it would lose connection with zero warning.
I cooked one prime rib on Christmas eve and it showed the roast as being 75F for hours and hours while my old meat thermometer showed a radically different temperature (thankfully I didn't trust the iGrill at this point to be anything resembling reliable). Every time I loaded the app it would try to do a firmware update which would appear to install in a split second, but never actually install. I went to watch TV a whole 20 feet from the iGrill and it disconnected with no warning and when I put the iGrill on the counter next to the device it never figured out it was back in range. After fiddling with unpairing and re-pairing the device a few times it finally installed the firmware update and started showing a valid temperature... but only if I stayed within 5-10 feet of the device.
Speaking of the app, it's the worst turd I've ever seen. It focuses more on selling you more of Webber's terrible products than actually showing you anything related to cooking your meat. If the connection fails it instantly tries to get you to buy another device. When you launch it, it's one big ad screen trying to sell you more Weber devices. You have to poke around menus just to get to the display of the temperature... which is the entire point of the app, though Weber appears to think it's meant as an advertising platform for it's horrendous products.
I'm just glad I was smart enough to go back to a tried and true basic meat thermometer so I didn't overcook over a hundred bucks worth of meat or I'd be even more ticked off.
This product is so terrible I'll be sure to never, ever buy any Weber product again, including any kind of BBQ grill or accessories. The whole experience has left a terrible taste in my mouth... in fact when BBQ season rolls around again I think I'll toss this POS on the grill and see how long it takes to melt into a puddle of goo. This is the only grilling this product is worthy of "helping" with.

It works for android and iOS and on my ipad it was a snap to setup. App downloads, push button on igrill, load app and go. In the app you can pick 'Pork, Chicken, Beef, Burger' etc. and it will ask how you want it 'Rare/MedRare/Med/MedWell/Well' etc. (well, no options for rare chicken :) )
Jam the probe into the meat, run the transmitter thingy outside the grill and through the marvels of science, beams some rays to your ipad (Bluetooth). I have my smoker at the side of the house. It goes through 1 wall and then my kitchen is right there. I leave the app running while I prepare other food. You can configure app to beep xx degrees before final temp as a warning. Temperature can be set to F or C. I did try taking my ipad downstairs but once in the basement the bluetooth connection died. It claims a range of 130 or 150' but in my experience it has been about 1/2 that. Not a deal breaker in my case or enough for me to bump down the rating. It was actually smaller than I expected and has a magnetic base which can stick to... metals! If you buy the igrill mini, you will only ever get to use 1 probe. Other models of igrill support multiple probes (available separately). The app is the same regardless and also supports multiple probes OR multiple devices.
Over all a great little device, easy to use and while only used 4 times so far... hasn't crapped out.
Follow up April 17th 2015 - I've now used this probably another dozen times since the initial review. A big bad a?s brisket smoke that took 12 hours, pork shoulders and more chicken. Still loving it, no problems *knock on wood*
Edit - November 1st 2015: I have used my smoker all summer and the igrill mini quite a few of those times. The battery has been replaced once, I believe it is a CR2032 and is fairly common at shoppers drug mart etc. My igrill has still worked great, however, my friend had one that stopped working after about 6 months. However, the company did replace the probe for him no questions asked so it sounds like the support is there at least. I am still very happy with this little probe and hopefully it gives me many more smokes ahead.
